IncludEd Conference 2026

By David Bill, Education Consultant, Pupil Pathways

One of the joys of working with Pupil Pathways is that you get to attend different conferences. All of these are events where we come together and collectively recharge our batteries, sharpen our axes, or whatever metaphor is best to describe how you leave with a more committed and informed frame of mind than when you arrived.

The next point to clarify is, who is “we” as in “we can all come together”? The answer is everyone. There are those working in the schools and other education settings, those who directly support children, perhaps in the local authority or trusts and just as importantly, the exhibitors.

Yes, we are important as we help pay for the conference, but we also learn from the sessions, and we can clarify our thoughts by talking to the delegates. In this way, our products are refined into tools to have a greater positive impact on the lives of the children. And just as importantly, we too can renew our sense of purpose and our commitment to the learners in your care.

Which leads to the question, what makes the IncludEd conference so special? Well, it is held on a Saturday, which has two implications. Firstly, you must be dedicated to give up your Saturday to come and attend, and to be honest, this quickly comes through when we chat to the delegates. Secondly, as there are no supply or cover issues, we see colleagues representing all the different roles in schools and support.

So here is a thank you to all who attended. Of course, the organisers and speakers need a special mention, but thanks too to the delegates who helped create an atmosphere of a shared purpose. Special thanks must also go to those whom we met at the Pupil Pathways stand who gave us their time to discuss their roles and the problems they encounter. Rest assured that the energy created on Saturday was still there at the debrief and planning sessions on Monday morning.
